So, now that you know a lot about my recipes, now I'm going to do some competitions against my mom and my dad with the other parent deciding the ingredient and judging. Does that sound fair to you? Our first challenge was today and our secret ingredient was chosen by my dad, which was apples. I won this first challenge so our ingredient today will be the dish that I won.
My mom made this dish, which was apple spice filling inside a tortilla and fried, topped with caramel sauce, ice cream and chocolate shavings.
I don't know Owen, as much as I love you I think I would have to go with the apple tortilla ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's because you haven't tasted the apple tortilla. It was too crispy and not enough apple and needed different spices. You would have gone for mine more.
DeleteOwen, I would like to have the recipe for the apple fritters, I have never made those and I would like to try to make them weight watcher friendly for George and I. Your presentations are fantastic and I love reading your blog. You are very special to us. Keep posting your recipes for us.
ReplyDeleteif you want to know how to make this weight watcher friendly.
Delete1/2 cup flour
1 half cup sugar
few tablespoons of butter
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/3 cup milk
presentation for both dishes is excellent... I would be interested in hearing the judge's comments on
ReplyDelete1) taste
2) texture
3) seasoning
4) preparation skills of the chefs
for each dish...
I would also like to hear some more detail regarding the recipe used for your apple fritter .. in looking at your pictures preparing the fritters.. I was interested in how you cooked your batter and your powered sugar topping/covering...
it would also be good to hear from each of the chefs on how they responded to the choice of secret ingredient (apples) and whether there choice of recipe came quickly to them once the secret ingredient was identified .... maybe you could give us further information on your blog on that question...
great job.. and thanks for taking the time to consider my comments
1) taste - for mom's dish, the tortilla was too crispy and needed different seasonings.
Delete2) texture - just too much tortilla and too crunchy-
3) seasoning - mom needed different seasonings.
4) preparation skills of the chefs - moms dish was prepared pretty well
i wont comment on my own dish.
Both dishes look wonderful! Keep up the good work Owen!
