French Oui Oui

Sorry after being late for so many times, it had to be with being focused on school. Now with summer here I'll try to update it once a week. This week is French. I made Chicken Cordon Bleu, pommes frittes (fancy for french fries), a multi-grain medley, green beans and a baguette.
This is me slicing the fries.

This is me sorting the fries and coating them in oil, garlic salt and fresh rosemary from our garden.

These are the fries ready to go in the oven.

These are the fries all cooked.

This me pounding the life out of the chicken (it was already dead).

This is me slicing the chicken in half, horizontally.

This is me placing ham and cheese in the chicken and rolling it up.

This is me rolling the chicken in beaten egg.

This is me rolling the chicken in seasoned flour, garlic salt and panko bread crumbs.

This is chicken cordon bleu before being cooked.

This is me getting the green beans out of the boiling water and into the freezing cold water.

This is me sauteeing mushrooms in butter, oil and garlic. I later added the green beans and some fresh squeezed lemon juice.

Finished green beans.

This is the finished plate. It is a castle presentation. Chicken cordon bleu being protected by a layer of rice, the green beans are attacking the layer of bread and fries. I made a sauce for the chicken from butter, white wine, chicken bouillon, cornstarch and heavy whipping cream.

If you have any questions leave them in the comments!

Spaghetti and meatballs dinner

Hi guys. Sorry I haven't been around lately but I had to..... No, scratch that.... I wanted to go to my grandparents house. And to show I'm welcome to be back on the blog, I have a guest today. This is my best friend since the start of 5th grade, Bella! The dishes for this meal is Spaghetti and meatballs, obviously, macaroni and cheese, veggies (you can just throw some frozen ones in the microwave if you like) and applesauce.

This it's me crushing crackers for the meatballs.

This is Bella and I getting the mixture ready.

This is Bella and I mixing the meatball mixture.... Yuck.

This is us shaping the meatballs (I feel like I'm introducing pictures for a slideshow).

These are the meatballs.

This it's Bella and I chopping oregano and basil from our garden.

This is Bella putting meatballs into the sauce.

This is me and Bella plating ( sorry we didn't get pictures of the others. Simply put, the macaroni and cheese came from a box, the veggies from the freezer and the applesauce we just put in a bowl).

This is the finished plate. I'm good at plating, don't you think?

I would like to thank Bella, thanks for coming on my blog! I don't really have much to say. If you want the recipe comment and let me know. That's all I have to say. So, bye.

Happy birthday mom

Guess what? Today is my mom's birthday and to show my appreciation making her a cake. Chocolate to be precise. The recipe can be found here.  By the way,  compared to some of the other posts I'm not even trying on originality. I blame mom for that. Also the frosting is here.  I blame dad for that. Now here's the pictures. By the way,  some of these pictures were taken by me.  You can tell by the horrible camera work.

Some of the cake got stuck to the pan.  I blame the oil canister for that.  So I made a trifle.

Waffles a la Owen

Why haven't I written this sooner? I actually won a national competition with these in 2012, why haven't I written this sooner? Well, later is better than never. I barely even need to write the recipes today...... click me .......Ah, the magic of the internet.

I paired Waffles a la Owen with scrambled eggs (my mom's favorite), sausage (my brother Kai's favorite) and hash browns (my favorite).

The end.

Steak Dinner

Today I made a dinner for some guests so I decided to make a steak dinner. Salad, a steak, grilled potatoes and donuts.

This is the kitchen all set up to get to work.

Grilled Potatoes. I've already given you the recipe in an earlier post so I'll just show the pictures.

This is me basting the cut up potatoes to put in an oven pan.

Steak. Take a steak and marinade it in garlic, lime juice, and A1 steak sauce. Marinade it for about an hour and a half. Then sear in a pan on high. After I seared it I used a thermometer to make sure it was around 145 degrees.

Salad. This is an easy one. Just take any bag of salad, chop some tomatoes, cucumbers and apples. Mix it together.

Chimmichurri sauce. Man chimmichurri is hard to spell!

1 cup fresh parsle
3/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 tablespoons dried oregano
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 tablespoon minced garlic
Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until a good consistency.

Donuts. This is me rolling the donuts. The recipe for this one is found here

You don't have to use a special donut cutter. We didn't either.

The finished plate.

A donut and a donut hole.

Special thanks to Sister Puddicembe (I hope I spelled that right) and Sister Hibbert for trying this dinner and liking it. Here are some comments from them.

"Chef Owen, Your food was incredible. The steak was perfectly cooked and you did a great job with the salad. Thank you for all the work and keep it up!  ~Sister Hibbert"

"Owen, You did an amazing job! I'm so full of yummy food I could BURST!! Thank you for sharing your talent and love of good cooking! You rock! Sister Puddicembe"

The end......................... for now.

Sorry about that Part 2

Part 2 of the Thanksgiving theme. If you can't understand the title, see part 1.

I'm going to do each part before and after. This is the turkey before. It is stuffed with apples, oranges, celery, herbs and spices.

And after. We cooked it at 500 degrees for 30 minutes. Then we lowered the temperature to 350 degrees until a meat thermometer read 161 degrees.

Rumaki- bacon cut in half and cooked slightly, whole water chestnuts, 1/2 cup ketchup, 1/2 cup sugar. Mix sugar and ketchup in dish. Microwave 1 minute, stir. Wrap bacon around chestnuts and secure with a toothpick. Place in ketchup mixture. Cook at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes.

Before.

During.

After. This is actually my Grandpa's recipe.

The continuation of stuffing. Here I am cutting apples.

This is me smiling while pouring broth in.

This is me spreading the stuffing in the pan.

And this is me putting a smile made out of butter. This smile simply melted.

Home Fries- cube potatoes. Cook in olive oil over medium heat, seasoned with garlic salt.

My favorite. I worked hard on these.

Before.

After.

The plating. Admire the presentation, if you must.

Before.

After.

The end. I hope I can continue this blog. You can try some of these recipes if you want.
